Cannabis Loan Fund RFP
The Social Equity Capital Fund (SECF) is seeking capital partners to launch the Cannabis Loan Fund, which will provide low-cost financing to social equity licensees countrywide.
The fund intends to support the development of an equitable cannabis economy by giving much-needed capital to minority-owned and controlled cannabis firms that have been granted licenses to operate in cities around the country.
Social equity initiatives: As states approve marijuana decriminalization legislation, communities of color are frequently left behind in the booming and very successful cannabis business, with revenues expected to reach $50 billion by 2026. Social equity programs, on the other hand, can help repair the harm done to these communities by years of discriminatory marijuana enforcement practices. These equity programs, in particular, can help individuals from disproportionately affected communities join and sustain firms in the legal marijuana industry by offering support for loans, grants, business training, and other resources.
Respondents to this RFP will be considered as capital partners for the Loan Fund: capital partners will be largely responsible for supplying Loan capital to the fund. SECF will be in charge of the administration of the Loan Fund, including but not limited to sourcing and underwriting potential borrowers, structuring loans, deal execution, and continuous servicing and management of loans.
SECF intends to select capital partners based on a set of criteria outlined in the RFP.
The criteria on which SECF will base its selection of capital partners include, but are not limited to, the respondent's understanding of the cannabis industry; the respondent's qualifications, reputation, and financial health; proposed financial terms; and the respondent's relevant experience.
SECF anticipates entering into one or more agreements with capital partners, depending on the quality of the offers.
